Zaner-Bloser Handwriting Self-Instruction for Middle School

This book will help you examine and improve your handwriting.

Handwriting is probably a subject you don't think about very often.

After all, you learned to write way back in elementary school.

Why take the time to practice now?

The answer is that you can think about your handwriting a little differently now that you are older. You realize that you write to communicate with other people. You write notes and reminders to yourself; and letters to your friends. You also write for people who will have a big impact on your future, such as teachers, test evaluators, and employers. In all these situations, your handwriting says a lot about you. You want to make sure it is neat and easy to read.

Notice that the title of this book includes the term Self-Instruction.
That means it will be your responsibility to complete the lessons by yourself and monitor your own progress.
As you work through each lesson, follow these steps:

1.  Complete the lessons according to the schedule your teacher gives you.
2.  Plan to spend 15 - 20 minutes on each lesson.
3.  Read through the entire lesson before you begin to write.
4.  Practice the writing on scrap paper before you use your best handwriting to write on the pages.
5.  Use the Self-Check feature to honestly evaluate your work. Occasionally ask a friend or an adult to evaluate your writing.

At the end of each unit, you will find a Checkup lesson. Your teacher will evaluate your writing in these lessons to see how well you are doing.

Your own style of writing Is part of the unique person that you are. You will find it fun and interesting to examine and refine your handwriting.

Good luck!
